Here, the story in the campaign mode will take place 4,000 years before the events in the movies. The Dark Lord of the Sith have unleashed an armada against the Republic and because of this aggression, the Jedi knights were scattered and became vulnerable, which resulted in a lot of Jedi knights perishing in battle while there are also other Jedi knights that swore loyalty to the Dark Lord of the Sith.

When the game opens, you will create a character that you can customize to be either a male or a female. The character you create will awaken aboard a doomed Republic ship with no recollection of the past.

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic provides a game system similar to those of Wizards of the Coast’s. The combat here is round based and time will be divided into discrete rounds. The combatants in the game can attack and react at the same time. However, certain action that a combatant may perform in each round is limited.

You can also do simple word choice of action, and you can also make decisions basing on a major plot. You will determine where your character will align themselves on the force. This means that you will be the one to decide if your character will go with the dark or light side of the force. By being generous you will be able to go to the light side of the force. However, if your character is self serving and violent, you will succumb to the dark side of the force, which will alter the appearance of the character you’ve created.
